Thank you for returning to Source Blogger for the next installment of "Backlinks Week." We've had a lot of fun sharing with you ideas on developing a backlinks strategy for your blog.
As we discussed in our last article entitled: How Can I Build Backlinks When So Many Blogs Are NoFollow?, your most successful strategy for building backlinks is to comment on other blogs.

How To Leave Blog Comments That Market and Promote Your Site
Blogs in your niche/category
At this point, if you are a regular subscriber to Source Blogger, we have stressed to you, in past articles, the importance of reading (and subscribing) to blogs related to your blog's theme. How else are you going to be informed of any new trends in that industry? There is a lot you can learn from these blogs including effective writing/copywriting techniques, design, comment management, ads management, etc.

In addition, Source Blogger recommends you sign up for the Alexa Toolbar. If you are curious about the Alexa Toolbar and it's benefits, you are in luck! Source Blogger is one of your best sources for Alexa-related coverage. Please review some of our past articles on Alexa. You will enjoy it. And while you're at it, why not become a subscriber to Source Blogger? The article you are reading is very consistent in quality and scope with much of the other material you will find on Source Blogger.
One of the great benefits of the Alexa Toolbar is being able to determine a site's traffic rank. You will want to comment on blogs with a better Alexa Rank. Why? For the exposure, of course! Your goal is to expose your comment (and your blog) to as many readers, other blog's subscribers, and other blog's commenters as possible!
We especially want to target subscribers and commenters because they have already demonstrated a very sexy characteristic. They have reacted. They have responded. You love that segment because they are most likely to become YOUR subscribers, YOUR commenters, and YOUR customers!
Track the blogs you wish to comment on. Remember, not all blogs are updated every day. Each blog author has a different policy regarding site updates. Becoming a subscriber of other blogs in your niche/category ensures that you are one of the first to comment.
Why is it important to be first? Easy. So, that more readers see your comment! You can't assume that others who comment have selected the option to be emailed of future comments on this post. What is the possibility that others would be more inclined to respond to your comment as opposed to the article? Actually, the chances are pretty good!
Did you know you can "take over" the comments section of another blog? Perhaps you are more effective at engaging the comments of the reader than the blog's own author? What better way to establish your own "online identity" than from relevant, useful dialogue with other commenters?
What is the likelihood of you also acquiring a percentage of a blog's existing subscribers with these tactics? Now what of you consistently target some of the leaders in your niche/category and repeat this process?
As new readers come referred based on your commenting (and backlinking strategy) it becomes a natural tendency for them to compare and evaluate your blog for usefulness, helpfulness, and relevance.
A Word from Source Blogger - Please be mindful of your overall "tone" in blogs. Respect and proper etiquette are essential to allow the blog's Comment Moderator to post your comment. Bloggers, are not all of a consistent demeanor, some will prevent your comment if you appear as a threat to their authority or are undermining their blog's environment - especially if you are challenging the blog author's views or statistics on a topic. Besides building backlinks, we are opening the door for the opportunity to network and partner with your fellow bloggers in your related industry.
In Part II of this article, we will continue with "How To Leave Blog Comments That Market and Promote Your Site." In addition, Source Blogger will show you ways to instantly detect a "DoFollow" blog and some other small directories to assist you in your search for "DoFollow."
